The workshop/training titled “Strengthening Parliamentary Oversight, Monitoring and Supervision of Government Business in an Emerging Democracy.” Organised by Messerand for the visiting Nigerian Senators kicked off at the ancient Dutch city of Leiden.
It was a great privilege for me to declare the workshop open as we have in attendance strategic stakeholders including the Chairman Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions Senator (Dr.) Patrick Ayo Akinyelure.
Also in attendance are the Chairman Senate Committee on Primary Health-care and Communicable Diseases and also Vice Chairman, on National Security and Intelligence Committee, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, Senator Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology and Senator Mathew Urhoghide, Chairman Senate Committee on Public Accounts.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic regulations and the current partial lockdown in the Netherlands, the event hall was only allowed a maximum of 12 persons with strict compliance to the 1.5 meters social distancing.
The workshop ended with an interactive session which interestingly focused on Shell Oil Company and its actions/inactions in the oil rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
Let’s make Nigeria great again!
