Ughelli is the oldest city, the central and one of the most cosmopolitan city in Delta State.

This is the city I grew up in and attended the famous Ogelle Primary School. I left Ughelli for Benin in 1995 and eventually travelled to Europe.

In 2013, I had the strong desire to invite the popular Ovie of Ughelli to Europe. When the opportunity came through a conference in The Netherlands, I did not hesitate.

I got his number and placed a call directly to him to get his international passport ready and that a date will be fixed for his consular interview at the Dutch Embassy in Abuja, all expense to be paid!

We finally arranged his trip to Abuja and was picked up from the airport and given a first class Royal treatment all through his stay, thanks to the great support of my friend in Abuja. Unfortunately, he was told he didn’t come with most of the required documents from him.

There wasn’t sufficient time for him before the conference date. This was how I missed my greatest opportunity to host my King in Europe.

The opportunity came for us to meet for the first time when I paid him a courtesy call for blessings and also to inform him of my rally in Ughelli. I recounted this moment before the King and the audience.

I wanted everyone to know that no good in life is ever lost!

It was a great honour and privilege to be hosted by His Royal Majesty, Oharisi III, the indefatigable King of Ughelli Kingdom. My Ajuwe, as you are fondly called by those who truly know you, may your reign on the throne be long! I promise to serve the people of Delta State to compliment your reign on this great throne.

God bless you and God bless Delta State.
