My first major business engagement after the week-long golden jubilee birthday celebration. I was saddled with the responsibility to engage the Dutch leading Dredging, Marine, oil and gas multinational company BOSKALIS. A very familiar name in Nigeria.

Royal Boskalis is a Dutch dredging and heavylift company that provides services relating to the construction and maintenance of maritime infrastructure internationally.

The company has one of the world’s largest dredging fleets, a large stake in Smit International and owns Dockwise, a large heavylift shipping company.

Remember it was two Boskalis tugboats helped the Egyptian tugs in the dredging and towing operation to free the 400-metre long ship “Ever Given”, which ran aground in the Suez Canal on 23 March 2021, and got stuck diagonally and therefore blocked the Suez Canal from 23 till 29 March 2021 during which time the canal was impassable. A traffic jam of around 400 ships resulted from the blockage of the canal.

Beyond, out talks on the lifting of an oil rig platform from North America to Nigeria, we emphasised the need to work together and open more frontiers in Nigeria. The company was founded in 1910 and attained the Royal status 1978.

As of 2020, Boskalis has 9,900 employees and 700 ships till date. They operate in over 75 countries in six continents around the world.
