After an extensive several hours of meeting held online @ 09:20pm Friday that lasted till 01:15am in the early hours of Saturday anchored by the Executive Director of the Hope for Niger Delta Campaign (HNDC), with headquarters in The Netherlands and the Fix-Delta team members.
The following resolutions where reached and recommendations given on matters making the round, on the ongoing lockdown being implemented by the Delta State Government.
~The state Government is right to have lockdown the state,as necessitated by the current COVID-19 pandemic ransacking the whole world and killing people in their hundreds. ~However,the state Government should have put in place, better economy palliatives to cushion the hardship effects on Deltans.
~The State officials working together with men of the arm forces should be more professional, in the way they go about executing the exercise, so that they don’t infringed on by right of the ordinary Deltan and provoking them to react.
~The lockdown should be evenly observed in the entire state, with no area given preferential treatment. As investigation from our own angle, as shown a beehive of activities at the popular slaughter area along the Effurun-Sapele road in Uvwie LGA.
~We as a group totally condemned in strong terms,the gruesome murdered of Mr. Joseph Pessu by men of the Nigeria arm forces, who are meant to protect lives of armless civilians in our country. ~So, the State Government in collaboration with other relevant authorities, should ensure that a thorough investigation is carried out on this matter and the killer of Mr. Joseph Pessu brought to justice.
~At same time, we applaud the army for the prompt arrest of the army culprit, and appeal the matter is treated with all seriousness, as to serve as deterrent to others. ~We condemn any form of retaliation and call on Deltans to be calm to any provocation arising in the face of current realities. As we also extend our condolence to the immediate family of Mr. Joseph Pessu.
~In conclusion, We call on the Delta State Government to do anything humanly possible to avert the dreaded COVID-19 from entering the State.
